What is the Political Courage Test?

Texas Congressional Election 2022 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Abortion is the taking of innocent human life. It really is that simple. I cannot think of a reason to abort a child. Many will talk about rape or incest. I don't think those are valid reasons.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
I have a very hard time finding in the Constitution where the Fed Gov is authorized to establish and fund such programs. I don't support expanding Fed funding period. We spend too much as it is.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
After running in a race where so much money has poured in, I think we need to seriously reconsider money in politics. It is definitely not about the people.
No Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
Really it is more than yes or no. Especially for police officers and qualified immunity. We need to tread carefully when we're talking civil right vs. appropriate law enforcement.
Yes Do you support increasing defense spending?
Generally, because we live in a world where our international threats are not decreasing in size or potency. We need to do it realistically and efficiently though.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
Generally, No. But with COVID Yes, but only once...and only because the government overstepped its bounds. Those are taxpayer dollars. We must not permit the government to shut down businesses in the first place. Let businesses decide what's best for them and their employees and customers.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Unconstitutional. Not an enumerated power.
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
No Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
Gov't should have very little, if any, role in business operations.
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Ideally, yes. I'm not sure logistically how we do that with the millions that are presently here, and have been for many years. No amnesty though.
No Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
We need to make sure America and her interests are guarded, but I'm not sure that means involving ourselves in every conflict in the Middle East. We can produce our own oil, and we can export to the world. Sounds like a win-win to me.
No Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
No, if our trade "partners" are taking advantage of us.
We need to return our Republic to its Constitutional roots and put the government back in its Constitutional box. Let the states be the laboratories of policy they were intended to be. That will fix a majority of what ails us.
